Chonburi, Thailand – 20 October 2025

Chonburi Hospital and Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand) Ltd. (“Novo Nordisk”) announced the “Unlock and Rock Haemophilia” event, aimed at raising awareness and strengthening knowledge about haemophilia among children and their families. This event engaged the local community of people living with haemophilia in Eastern Thailand through the Thai Hemophilia Patient Club.

According to the World Federation of Haemophilia’s global survey 2023, there are approximately 200,000 people living with haemophilia—more than 2,000 of whom are in Thailand[i]. Individuals with haemophilia face numerous challenges, including undiagnosed conditions and insufficient access to quality healthcare.

The event included sessions by healthcare professionals providing knowledge on how to provide care for people living with haemophilia at home and a session on how to provide mental support to the people living with the rare disease and their families.

The event also featured empowering workshops, including practical sessions on how to properly operate medication, preparing to-go bag, crafting bracelets, and identifying suitable exercises for individuals with haemophilia. The workshops were designed to equip families and people living with haemophilia with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective disease management.

Dr Sureeporn Chinawan, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Medical Doctor at Chonburi Hospital, indicated that the event highlighted the long-standing partnership between the hospital and Novo Nordisk, united by a shared goal of unlocking barriers and empowering people with haemophilia to live their life to the fullest.

Dr Jiranuch Thammakumpee, Deputy Director of Chonburi Hospital, expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “empowering individuals living with haemophilia and their families through interactive education, like workshop, is vital. We are committed to providing the necessary resources and support for the patients in Eastern Thailand. This event not only raises awareness but also fosters a community of understanding and collaboration that can significantly improve the quality of life for patients.”

In alignment with the hospital and Novo Nordisk’s patient-centric commitment, the event included personal testimonies from people living with haemophilia, shedding light on their journeys and how they overcome the challenges faced in managing the disease in real life.

Ms Selina Christodoulakis, Director of the Rare Disease Business Unit at Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand), emphasised the importance of knowledge on the disease, stating: “at Novo Nordisk, we believe that understanding and awareness are key to improving the lives of those affected by rare diseases. Events like ‘Unlock and Rock Haemophilia’ are essential in bridging the gap between education and empowerment for patients and their families,” she stated.

The “Unlock and Rock Haemophilia” event aimed not only to spread awareness but also to create a supportive environment where the community of patients and their families can meet and feel understood, as well as equipped to tackle the challenges of living with haemophilia.
